Cat5E Shield
Shielded Cat5e patch cables rated 1 Gbps at 350 MHz. The foil shield gives the pairs a path to drain induced noise, which matters when a run shares a tray with power cable, or passes near motors, lighting ballasts, VFDs, or elevator equipment.
Shielding only works if it is bonded, so terminate into shielded jacks and a properly grounded panel — an unbonded shield does nothing. For clean office and residential runs, unshielded Cat5e is cheaper and easier to dress.
