Networking

Structured cabling hardware: RJ45 keystone jacks, inline and right-angle couplers, RJ45 modular plugs, 110 punch-down junction boxes, and shielded panel mount jacks.

These are the termination and connection components that turn cable into a working link — everything between the patch cable and the panel. Available across Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and Cat8, in shielded and unshielded versions.

Questions about Networking

What is the difference between a keystone jack and a keystone coupler?

A keystone jack terminates solid cable on 110 punch-down contacts at the back and presents an RJ45 jack at the front. A keystone coupler has an RJ45 jack on both sides and joins two patch cables with no punch-down. Both snap into the same keystone wall plates and patch panels.

Do I need shielded jacks, couplers and plugs?

Match the hardware to the cable. Shielded cable needs shielded jacks, couplers and plugs so the shield stays continuous through the link; unshielded UTP cable uses unshielded parts. We stock both across Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A and Cat8.

Can I use a Cat6 jack with Cat6A cable?

It will connect, but a link performs only to its lowest-rated component, so a Cat6 jack on Cat6A cable gives you a Cat6 link. Use jacks, couplers and plugs of the same category as the cable.
