Cat8 Shielded 26AWG Patch Cable: common questions

How far can a Cat8 cable run?

Cat8 is a data center specification with a short channel of about 30 m, built for switch-to-switch and top-of-rack to server links at 25 or 40 Gbps. For horizontal cabling, use Cat6A.

26AWG or 30AWG Cat8: which should I choose?

26AWG is the sturdier gauge and the better pick where cables are handled or re-patched. 30AWG is thinner for dense racks where airflow and cable fill matter most. Both are rated 40 Gbps at 2000 MHz.

InstallerParts Cat8 Shielded 26AWG Ethernet Patch Cable – Red

The InstallerParts Cat8 Shielded 26AWG Ethernet Patch Cable in Red carries up to 40 Gbps at 2000 MHz. Built for short, high-speed links between switches, servers and storage in data centers.

  • 26AWG Conductors: Heavier gauge than slim Cat8 for lower loss on longer patch lengths.
  • FTP Shielding: Foil-shielded pairs reject electrical noise in data center and industrial environments.
  • 40 Gbps / 2000 MHz: Supports 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T on short links, and is backward compatible with Cat6A, Cat6 and Cat5e equipment.
  • 100% Bare Copper Wire: No CCA (copper-clad aluminum). Pure copper ensures reliable signal transmission and long-term durability.
  • 50 Micron Gold-Plated RJ45 Plugs: Corrosion-resistant contacts for a stable, low-resistance connection.
  • Standards Compliant: T568B wiring. TIA/EIA, UL/cUL, RoHS.
