Cat6 UTP Booted Patch Cable: common questions
What is the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A?
Both carry 10 Gbps, but Cat6A is specified to hold 10 Gbps across a full 100 m channel, while Cat6 reaches 10 Gbps over shorter runs. Cat6 is a good fit for 1 to 5 Gbps desks and patching; choose Cat6A for 10 Gbps as a baseline.
Booted or non-booted: which should I choose?
Booted cables have a molded boot that protects the RJ45 latch and adds strain relief, so they suit desks, devices and ports that get re-patched. Non-booted cables have a smaller connector body that seats cleanly side by side in high-density patch panels and switches. A common practice is non-booted at the panel and booted at the device end.
